Step into the colourful world of Ginger Root – SHINBANGUMI, the acclaimed third studio album from multi-instrumentalist and producer Cameron Lew. Released in 2024, SHINBANGUMI—Japanese for "new programme"—continues Ginger Root's self-described "aggressive elevator soul" sound, effortlessly blending indie pop, city pop, funk, synth-pop and psychedelic influences. Inspired by Japanese television, retro aesthetics and vintage pop culture, the album delivers a vibrant and cinematic listening experience unlike anything else in modern indie music.
Featuring standout tracks including "No Problems," "Better Than Monday," "There Was a Time," "Only You," and "All Night," SHINBANGUMI combines infectious grooves, nostalgic production and thoughtful songwriting into a cohesive and endlessly replayable album. With its polished arrangements, irresistible melodies and distinctive visual identity, the record further establishes Ginger Root as one of the most inventive artists in contemporary indie music.
